Announcing Joel Krajewski as a Technical Advisor

Joel Krajewski is an accomplished planetary mission leader and systems engineer, formerly Deputy Chief Engineer for Planetary Science at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

He led Mars Cube One (MarCO), the first interplanetary CubeSats, proving that small, low-cost spacecraft could operate in deep space while relaying data during the InSight landing.

MarCO was developed under unusually tight constraints for a NASA mission: a team of around 20 people, which went from concept to launch in 2 years. It proved that a small, focused team could deliver an ambitious spacecraft mission quickly and cost-effectively.

His leadership across MarCO, Mars Science Laboratory, Phoenix and the Mars Exploration Rovers has been recognised with four NASA medals, including two Outstanding Leadership Medals.
